What to Expect

Before · During · After

A thorough rundown of what your treatment day looks like and how to give your skin the best possible recovery.

01 · Prep

Before your session

  • Hydrate well in the 48 hours leading up to your session.
  • Avoid sun exposure for at least 2 weeks prior.
  • Shave the treatment area the day before or on the day of your appointment.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that won't rub the area.

02 · Treatment

During treatment

  • You'll be given protective eyewear before the laser is switched on.
  • Ice packs will be applied before treatment to help numb the area and improve comfort. Additional cooling will be provided throughout the session as needed to keep the skin cool and comfortable.
  • Treatment sensations vary, but many clients compare it to a rubber band flicking the skin. The good news is that sessions are typically very quick.
  • Sessions take 10–30 minutes depending on tattoo size.
  • You may see immediate 'frosting' — a temporary white film. This is expected.
  • We can pause at any time. Your comfort sets the pace.

03 · Recovery

After treatment & aftercare

  • After your treatment, the area will be cooled to help minimise discomfort and support the skin's recovery.
  • MediPulv Antiseptic Powder will be applied to the treated area to assist with healing.
  • Leave the non-stick dressing in place for 24–48 hours unless otherwise advised.
  • Avoid excessive heat for 24–48 hours, including strenuous exercise, hot showers, baths, spas, and saunas.
  • Keep the treated area out of direct sunlight while healing.
  • If sun exposure is unavoidable, apply SPF 50+ and wear protective clothing.
  • Do not pick, scratch, or rub the treated skin.
  • Take care to avoid any injury or friction to the area during the healing process.
  • Once the skin has returned to normal, apply Bepanthen First Aid Cream twice daily.
  • The area may feel similar to mild sunburn for a few days. Cold packs can be used for comfort.
  • Redness and mild swelling are common and may last for several weeks.
  • Itching is a normal part of the healing process and can occur even weeks after treatment.

Realistic Results

Removal takes time — and that's the right way

Most tattoos need 6–12 sessions for complete removal. Cover-up fades typically take 3–5. Factors like ink density, colour, age of the tattoo, location on the body and your skin type all influence the timeline.
